Campus Planning_save

In September 2011, Winsor took the latest steps in an ongoing process of campus planning.  The school received approval from the Boston Redevelopment Authority for the long-range plan it had submitted in March, outlining a vision for the future stewardship of the campus and affirming the school's commitment to the city and the Longwood neighborhood. This webpage provides an overview of the plans and how they will enhance the educational experience of girls and young women at Winsor.

First Priority: Centers for Arts and Athletics/Wellness

The first phase of the campus plan focuses on new centers both for performing arts and for athletics and wellness.  A world-renowned team of architects from William Rawn Associates continues to work on the design of this significant addition on the school's historic Pilgrim Road campus.

Additional Phases of Long-Range Plan

While those two centers are the focus of the school's design and development efforts at this time, Winsor's long-range plan also includes a 30,000 square foot classroom addition and a 300,000 commercial building to be located on the corner of Brookline and Longwood Avenues. As described in a letter to the BRA, the plan seeks "to anchor the Winsor School at its current location for generations to come."

From Master Plan To Building Design

The current design effort builds on the earlier school-wide master planning process. Completed in summer 2009 by Bowie Gridley, the master plan serves as a roadmap for Winsor’s future facilities. More than 1,000 members of the Winsor community shared their views with the planners, a fact applauded by Bowie Gridley as a model of inclusivity.

Sustaining Educational Excellence

The design project has its roots not only in master planning but also in several years of previous assessment, director Rachel Friis Stettler explains in putting the plans in context. She sees it as a key to sustaining Winsor's excellence and realizing our vision of educating young women in the 21st century. If you have any questions, please contact .
