College Counseling and Placement

The college choices of Winsor graduates reflect the academic strength of the girls and the school. Throughout the college search, Winsor’s College Counseling Office offers information, structure and support to juniors and seniors and their families.

Individualized Guidance

College counselors take a personalized approach, meeting individually with each student and family.

Group informational evenings help to minimize the uncertainty that sometimes surrounds the college selection process. The office also publishes a detailed handbook for families and students that presents a “roadmap” for the process. Homeroom meetings provide added opportunities for college counselors to update students.

The college process can be an enriching time to learn more about yourself, your goals and your strengths."

Connections to Colleges

Winsor’s experienced college counselors maintain close contact with college admission officers, who routinely visit Winsor throughout the year. These visits allow girls to get a clearer sense of what schools offer. College catalogs, videos, financial aid information and testing materials are also available in the office.

Wise, Informed Decisions

Winsor expects students will use the skills they develop here to facilitate the college process. We encourage students to be engaged actively in their college searches, reflect carefully about their goals and aspirations, and make wise, informed decisions.

As well as Winsor prepares young women for college, the school’s ultimate purpose is to prepare them for life. The school’s counselors—and teachers—encourage girls to keep that perspective.
