As a fun side project this year, Eugene Pool’s Class V English students have written a novel. Each week, a girl reads the chapter she has written to the class, revealing the next adventure for the two main characters, Taylor and Liz from the Winslow School in Boston.

Basketball Milestone for Winsor Junior

Emily Wanger ’09 became the first athlete in the history of Winsor basketball to score 1,000 points in a career. She reached the milestone on February 7 during a 46-18 victory before a wildly enthusiastic home crowd.

Wall Street Journal Article Features Winsor Family

The February 20 feature identified a very small, but reportedly growing, trend: families moving great distances to find the right schools. The reporter told the story of one Winsor family that relocated to Boston from Los Angeles after their two girls were admitted to Winsor last spring.

Judy Robbins and Tyler Knowles Lead Alumnae Book Discussion

On January 16, alumnae were transported back to the Winsor classroom, where they were led by retired English teachers Judy Robbins and Tyler Knowles in a lively book discussion. One alumna, Caroline Hoppin '55, said she attended to "interact in the realm of ideas," something she thoroughly enjoyed about learning at Winsor.

Small Chorus Earns Gold in National Competition

Small Chorus recently won three top awards in the national Heritage Festival competition in Washington, D.C. "What a blessing to be part of such a fine competition and festival!" says choral director Lisa Taillacq. "It was so affirming for the girls, for our choral program and for Winsor as an institution."

Class IV Project Teaches Media Literacy and Research Skills

In Class IV English, students have learned that some advertising may have a hidden agenda. “Our goal is to increase media literacy and give girls practice on research skills they'll need as they approach research papers in Class V Expos and beyond,” says teacher Courtney Jackson.
