The Winsor Mock Trial team again ably represented Massachusetts at the National High School Mock Trial Championships, held in Hartford, Conn., from May 11 to 13, 2017. "They showed courtroom decorum and a strong understanding of the law in every trial, winning a lot of fans along the way," notes Laura Antuna, mathematics teacher and the team's advisor.
After earning the school's fifth state title since 2010, this year's Winsor squad placed 18th at the national event, turning in "amazing results thanks to countless hours of hard work preparing and gaining a deeper understanding of our justice system."
Each year approximately 30,000 students participate in local high school mock trial competitions throughout the United States, Guam, South Korea, and the Northern Mariana Islands. The best teams from each of these states and territories then advance to compete at the nationals.
Congratulations to all the members of the Winsor team, including senior captains Alex Farina, Izzy Macenka and Helen Sayegh; juniors Lucie Kapner and Penny Mack; sophomores Kaylee Chang, Abby Golden , Lia Kornmehl , Sindhu Krishnamurthy, Teresa Lawlor, Anya Samtani, Abbigale Shi and Ariela Rosenzweig, and freshman Izzy Leonetti.
