Winsor Junior Wins N.E. Skating Title

“It was so exhilarating to finally be on top of the podium,” said Winsor’s Dayoon Chang ’19 after being crowned New England Regional Junior Ladies Champion in October 2017. “I will never forget that feeling.”

The Winsor junior will now compete in the Eastern sectionals next week as she vies for a spot at the 2018 U.S. Figure Skating Championships.

“My win at regionals was so special to me especially because I wasn’t going in as the favorite,” she explained.  “Throughout the three years that I had been skating at the junior level, I'd never won any of the local competitions and was either fourth or third at past regionals.”

“This time, at regionals, I was finally able to trust my preparation and have one of my best performances,” she adds.

When interviewed for a Winsor e-news article in January 2016, she spoke of a dream of “being able to fully enjoy life at school while pursuing my dream of becoming a national and international competitive figure skater."

After her win at New Englands, she says she’s even more confident and motivated to improve as a skater.

Year after year, Dayoon keeps giving her many Winsor fans even more to cheer about.
