Dana Martin and members of the World Languages faculty will lead a 16-day cultural and linguistic exchange trip to France in June of 2019. Winsor will once again partner with Collège Privé du Sacré Coeur in Aix-en-Provence. To begin the French exchange, students from Sacré Coeur will visit Winsor during the month of April 2019 and in turn, Winsor students will visit Sacré Coeur during the month of June. Students will arrive in the city of Aix where they will meet their host sisters and begin the French portion of the exchange program. Students will have the wonderful opportunity to live in a family setting, which will allow them to gain unique insight into the culture and language being studied. They will attend school and shadow their French host student. They will also visit places of cultural interest including Arles, Avignon, and Marseille. Students will spend the last three days of their trip to France in Paris. There, they will have the opportunity to visit monuments, museums, and cathedrals, all while gaining an appreciation for the history and culture of the City of Light.
All Upper School students in French 2 or above may apply to participate in the French exchange. Preference will be given to sophomores and juniors who have yet to participate in the exchange. Graduating seniors are not eligible for this trip. We anticipate a group of about 20 students with 2-3 Winsor teachers as chaperones.
The current estimated price for the trip is $3,800. This fee includes round-trip airfare from Boston to France, airport taxes, all ground transportation within France, hotel and lodging, most meals, local tour guides, entrances to ruins and museums, various excursions and all gratuities. The final price will depend on group size, airport taxes and surcharges, currency exchange rates and final costs.
