Congratulations to cellist Haley Kwoun '20 on her incredible achievements!
In November, Haley was selected the Category D winner in the distinguished New England Conservatory Concerto Competition. As a result of her win, Haley had the opportunity to perform with the NEC's premier Youth Philharmonic Orchestra (YPO) on Sunday, April 28, in Boston's beautiful Jordan Hall. Haley performed Camille Saint Saëns' Cello Concerto in A, as part of a concert program that also included: Kabalevsky's Colas Breugnon Overture, Op. 24; Mahler's Totenfeier; Chadwick's Symphonic Sketches: Jubilee; and Dvorak's Slavonic Dances, No. IV.
In addition to this month's performance at Jordan Hall, Haley will have another turn in the spotlight, playing with the Boston Pops with Keith Lockhart at Symphony Hall on Wednesday, May 22. And in June, she will have the distinct honor of joining YPO on a tour in Prague, Budapest, and Vienna.
To the teachers, coaches and friends who have been encouraged her along her journey, she shared, "I hope to express my gratitude for your endless support in my musical endeavors; your words of encouragement have truly inspired me to commit myself fully to my music."
