Alumnae Book Club is Back!
This spring, the Winsor Alumnae Board re-launched the Alumnae Book Club.
Over three separate virtual gatherings in May, the group, led by Alumnae Board President Audrey McAdams Fenton ’93, P’26, had lively discussion of the novel The Guest Book by New York Times bestselling author Sarah Blake. A poignant family saga, The Guest Book illuminates the great divide–the gulf that separates the rich and poor, black and white, Protestant and Jew. Spanning three generations, the novel examines the life and legacy of one unforgettable family as they navigate the evolving social and political landscape, and masterfully lays bare the memories and mistakes each generation makes while coming to terms with what it means to inherit the past. During the final group meeting, the author made an unexpected appearance, joining the alumnae in their discussion, and making for an entirely unforgettable evening!

This fall, over three Wednesdays, the group has engaged in discussion of How to be An Antiracist, by Ibram X. Kendi. Hailed as a “groundbreaking” approach to understanding and uprooting racism and inequality in our society—and in ourselves—by Time, and “the most courageous book to date on the problem of race in the Western mind” by the New York Times, How to be An Antiracist was named one of the best books of the year by: The New York Times Book Review, Time, NPR, The Washington Post, Shelf Awareness, Library Journal, Publishers Weekly, and Kirkus Reviews.
