Seven Winsor Athletes Pursue Collegiate Athletics

Winsor is thrilled to have seven accomplished athletes from the Class of 2022 who are continuing their athletic careers by pursuing their sports at the collegiate level. 

“We are so proud of these seven athletes and all they have accomplished. We have loved watching them grow as both athletes and leaders during their time at Winsor,” said Director of Winsor Athletics Sherren Granese. “They all made significant impacts on their respective teams, and we are excited to see everything they will accomplish at their next schools,” she added.

Abbie Peterson '22—Abbie will be playing squash at Middlebury College (DIII) next year. Abbie was a member of the Winsor varsity team for five years where she helped the team win five EIL Conference titles. In the 2021-22 season, she helped the team to an undefeated record of 15-0, a third-place finish at the New England tournament, and a sixth-place finish at the US High School National Championships.

Sophie Diop '22—Sophie is committed to playing tennis at Amherst College (DIII). Sophie played number one singles and has been undefeated in all of her EIL matches since freshman year. In her freshman and senior year, she was named to the EIL First Team All Conference Team and was additionally named EIL Player of the Year in each of those seasons. She helped the team win two EIL Conference titles and, most recently, the team's first NEPSTA Class B Championship this past spring.

Lexi Pellegrino '22—Lexi will be playing field hockey at Brown University (DI) this upcoming fall. At Winsor, she helped the school win its first and second NEPSAC Class C Championships during her freshman and senior seasons. Additionally, she led the team for three years in the number of goals scored and set a school record with 82 goals scored in her career. She was named to the EIL All Conference team two times and twice was named 1st team All NEPSAC.  

Julia Ryan '22—Julia is committed to playing field hockey at the University of Pennsylvania (DI) this fall. Julia helped lead the Winsor field hockey team to two NEPSAC Class C Championships and was named the Most Valuable Player of the NEPSAC tournament this past fall. She was a starter for all four years at Winsor, was named to the EIL All Conference team twice, and was named 1st team All NEPSAC in both her freshman and senior year. 

Imogen Cabot '22—Imogen is committed to rowing at Yale University (DI) next year. This spring she led the first boat to the Youth Coxed Four National Championship. This was Winsor's fourth national championship, the last being in 2003. Her varsity one boat finished eighth at the Head of the Charles this fall, and this past summer she won a gold medal at the 2021 World Rowing Championships with the USRowing U19 team. 

Evie Wells '22—Evie will be on the rowing team at the University of North Carolina (DI) this coming year. Evie was a member of the first boat that finished eighth at the Head of the Charles this past fall. Additionally, she helped the Winsor team win a National Championship in the Coxed Four this past spring at the USRowing Youth National Championships. 

Scarlet Perry '22—Scarlet is committed to rowing at Duke University (DI) this coming year. Scarlet rowed on the Winsor team in the first boat both her freshman and sophomore years. This past spring she competed with the Cambridge Boat Club finishing fifth in the Four Sculled Boat at the USRowing National Championships. This past fall she rowed in the Youth Doubles at the Head of the Charles and finished second.
