[NOTE: Tiffany Rice joined the Winsor faculty in fall 2015 in a new lead role focused on developing and expanding the performing arts at Winsor. She shared her thoughts in a Q&A for the Winsor Bulletin as well as in a "Meet Our Teachers" video below.]
Q: What do you enjoy most about teaching at Winsor?
A: It's a three-way tie between the incredible students, the great colleagues, and of course the beautiful facilities.
Q: In your mind, what three words best describe your students?
A: Kind, enthusiastic, and curious.
Q: Describe a favorite lesson?
A: I love teaching beginning students how to make their very first sound on their instruments. Their faces light up when they get to move the bow across the strings for the first time.
Q: What do you hope your students take away from your classes?
A: I hope my students learn to love music, and I hope they understand that making mistakes is part of the learning process.
Q: What inspired your own passion for music?
A: I had family members who played instruments and great music teachers who inspired me to love music.
Q: What are your hopes for the performing arts at Winsor?
A: My hope is that the performing arts will have a positive impact on every student at Winsor, whether it’s through our new Performing Arts block, an elective course, or a co-curricular play, and these opportunities will provide a creative outlet that challenges students and helps them to become more well-rounded individuals.
