Winsor Squash Player Takes Top Honors

The Winsor Varsity Squash Team has long been a leader in the Eastern Independent League (EIL). In February they swept the league championship, not losing a single match as they landed their 14th championship win. In 2023, the team sent two students, Caroline Eielson โ€™24 and Judy Liu โ€™29, to the British Junior Open, a competition considered the worldโ€™s most prestigious junior squash tournament, attended by elite junior squash players from all over the world.

In November, Judy garnered additional recognition when she achieved the number-one ranking in the United States in the under-15 age category. This incredible accomplishment comes less than two years after she reached the number-one spot in the under-13 category. In sharing the news of her win, Winsor Squash Coach Szilvia Szombati shared, โ€œJudyโ€™s dedication and hard work year-round have truly paid off, and we couldn’t be more proud of her success.โ€

If youโ€™d like to see Winsor squash in action, come support the team at their first home match of the season when Winsor hosts Middlesex School on Wednesday, December 11.
