Full Circle: Suzy Shuster ’90 Returns to Campus as 2025 Commencement Speaker

On June 10, 2025, Suzy Shuster, an Emmy Award–winning sports journalist and distinguished member of Winsor’s Class of 1990, will return to campus to deliver the keynote address at Winsor’s 2025 commencement ceremony.

Shuster is a nationally recognized broadcaster known for her work on ABC Sports, ESPN, and FOX Sports Net. She currently co-hosts and executive produces Women’s Sports Now, exclusively on Roku Channel, a groundbreaking weekly series dedicated to women’s sports and the celebration of female athletes as cultural leaders and change-makers. She also co-hosts What the Football with Suzy Shuster and Amy Trask during the NFL season and is the official guest host of The Rich Eisen Show.

A graduate of Columbia University, Shuster began her career in television straight out of college, covering the 1996 presidential election before transitioning to sports. She was an associate producer for ESPN’s SportsCenter and HBO’s Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel before transitioning to on-air roles as an anchor and sideline reporter for Fox Sports Net. She has since become a trailblazer for women in sports media, combining journalistic excellence with a passion for mentorship and advocacy. She has earned a reputation for insightful reporting, compelling storytelling, and amplifying the achievements, presence, and voices of women in sports. She consistently elevates women’s voices, both on and off the field.

“We are thrilled to welcome Suzy back to Winsor,” said Head of School Sarah Pelmas. “Her journey from our classrooms to the national stage exemplifies the power of a Winsor education and the impact of confident, curious women leading in their fields. We know her singular voice will inspire our graduates as they embark on their own paths.”

Shuster’s return to Winsor marks a full-circle moment, as she reflects on her formative years at the school.  “Words cannot begin to express my gratitude for my Winsor education, upon which I reflect every single day. I cannot look at a sentence without contemplating punctuation, and to this day, I cringe when one ends in a preposition. Thank you, Ms. Skeele!”

The single clearest and most enduring lesson I absorbed at Winsor, was that you don’t cheer for the boys—the boys cheer for you. That message propelled me to success in a nearly all-male environment. Winsor gave me confidence in my voice. To say it is an honor to come home and speak to the next generation of women who will shape the world is the understatement of a lifetime.”

The 2025 commencement ceremony will celebrate the achievements of Winsor’s graduating seniors and honor the school’s enduring commitment to educating young women to lead lives of purpose.
