February 5, 2022—Members of the Winsor Lower School showcased their vibrant and colorful winter play 67 Cinderellas in the David E. and Stacey L. Goel Theater. The first night of the long-awaited performance was canceled due to a snow storm, but the show went on last Saturday night in front of an in-person audience.
The production by Stacey Lane, and directed by Rainier Pearl-Styles, is a classic twist on a fractured fairy tale that debunks traditional storybook notions of romance and what it means to be a princess. A dramatic opening set to the Spice Girls’ “Wannabe” rolled out the red carpet for the array of princesses who took the stage, set to a ball where the king and queen could choose a bride for their son, shy Prince Dalliance.
When a beautiful lady in a sparkling blue ball gown appears, he is certain she is his one true love. They share a dance, but not a single word. Dreamy Dalliance is smitten. Before he can learn anything about this mysterious party-crasher, she rushes off, leaving only her glass slipper behind.
This two-act comedy included many special moments for each of our Lower School students to shine. Congratulations to the cast and crew!
