Winsor Alums at the NCAA Division I Rowing Championships

May 28—Now alums, the Cabot sisters—Lettie Cabot ’19 and Imogen Cabot ’22— continue their rowing success.

With Lettie Cabot ’19 in bow seat, Stanford University won the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Rowing Championships this past weekend in Pennsauken, NJ breaking the two-year University of Texas streak in the competition. The win marks Stanford’s first NCAA win in rowing since 2009.

Lettie was captain of the Winsor School’s rowing and swim teams in her senior year. Rowing for Winsor at the Head of the Charles in the junior women’s 4+, she took 11th in 2017 and 8th in 2018. At the New England Interscholastic Rowing Association Championships, in the junior women’s 4+, Lettie took second in 2017 and 2018, and third in 2019. She was also selected to the 2019 Under-19 National Rowing Team and recently rowed for Great Britain at the 2021 World Rowing Under-23 Championships in Racice, Czech Republic.

Lettie’s sister Imogen Cabot ’22 also competed in this year’s NCAA Division I Rowing Championships. Imogen rowed for Yale University where the boat took second place in the 1st V4. This success propelled Yale’s team forward, ultimately earning Yale 110 points and allowing them to tie with the defending national champions University of Texas. Yale finished in fourth place overall.

At Winsor, Imogen began rowing at Winsor in Grade 9 and also played basketball and lacrosse. Choosing to dedicate more time to crew, Imogen rowed her sophomore and junior years and was selected as a team captain for the 2021–2022 season. In the summer of 2021, she won a gold medal at the World Rowing Championships with the US Rowing U19 team. In the spring of 2022, she led Winsor to a gold medal in the Youth Coxed Four event at the USRowing Youth National Championships. This was Winsor's fourth gold medal at USRowing Nationals, the last being in 2003.

Winsor is proud of the Cabot sisters as they continue to go for gold beyond Pilgrim Road.
