Winsor Debaters Win Top Team at Kingswood Oxford Public Tournament

January 29, 2023 — Six members of Winsor’s debate team achieved great success at a recent speaking tournament at Kingswood Oxford School in Hartford, Connecticut, earning the tournament’s most coveted trophy: Top Team at the tournament. The team, comprised of Nika Bigelow ’25, Theodora Zarrow ’26, Caroline Bae ’24, Yuyuan Huang ’24, Zora Chirunga ’26, and Emily Zhang ’25, forged ahead of Hotchkiss, Roxbury Latin, St. Sebastians, Loomis Chaffee, and Deerfield. Nika Bigelow's outstanding performance qualified her for the 2023 World Individual Debating and Public Speaking Competition in Durban, South Africa, in March, where she will compete along with teammate Caroline Bae. Nika and Caroline will join a long line of Winsor debaters who have won the opportunity to compete against top debaters from all over the world, shared Coach Jean Berg.
